FoWI is so proud to host Marjorie Abrams on Thursday, January 21, 2010 from 7pm-9pm. Abrams, who could never be described in just one word, will be reading from her newest mystery novel Murder on Hogtown Creek. Bringing the third book in her installment even closer to home has resonated with local Alachua and Gainesville folk.  In this novel she sends her protagonist, Lorelei Crane, to Gainesville to star in “Sweeney Todd:  The Barber of Fleet Street.” During this time, Lorelei Crane gets swept away with the murder of a fellow Earth Save member. The story sends her on an investigative trail linked to local dangers and eco-terrorism.

Marjorie Abrams, who writes by the name M.D. Abrams, brings mystery, history and culture into her novels. She often invites theatre and environmental concerns into her literature, encompassing two of her great passions. She began creative writing after retiring as a university professor and college administrator; Senior Times Magazine has quoted Abrams as saying, “When I retired, I wanted to do something fun, and mystery writing is fun.”

North Florida Mystery

Abrams’ first two novels are entitled Murder on the Prairie and Murder at Wakulla Springs. The latter novel won a Bronze Medal for popular fiction at the 2006 Florida Book Awards.

If her previous accomplishments, both in writing and academia, are any indication of this woman’s knowledge and influence, we believe her newest novel will be a book not to miss!

Come hear M.D. Abrams speak from the new novel, Murder on Hogtown Creek. She will be signing copies of her book and speaking a little on the subject of self –publishing (Abrams has self-published all three of her novels)!

As always, Wild Words Café will be open serving cold drinks, organic coffee and tea, beer and wine. We will see you there!!
